During the winter months, “going to the beach” might not be the first activity that comes to mind. I think this idea is worth reconsidering. It’s often during these cold days that we have a chance to witness the true power of the sea. The fresh salty air and the sound of the waves crashing will most often bring you in a quasi-meditative state and leave you feeling re-energized. Many seaside parks will give you a front row seat to this spectacle. For example, the Kashiwazakishiokaze park, the Onodachi park, and the Minatomachi Seaside Park. Just by walking or driving along the beach, you’re sure to find an incredible view. It is said that the rough sea and the cold water is the reason why fish from this area are so delicious and nutritious. The waves breaking on the coast and the constant churning sometimes produce amazing white plumes of sea foam called “wave flowers” here (波の花). Put on a good jacket and take the time to behold the sea’s amazing display of strength. If you’re a hardened thrill seeker, you might even consider putting on a wetsuit, grabbing a board and joining the dance… So powerful yet calming https://www.facebook.com/kashiwazaki.japan/videos/391212088347628/ The “wave flowers” 波の花 https://www.facebook.com/kashiwazaki.japan/videos/318547678799688/ The relentless sea is keeping those fish healthy!
